Dam Safety
The Dam Safety Division of IDRB is a full-fledged cell headed by a Director, Dam Safety within the Irrigation Department under the Chief Engineer, Investigation & Designs, (Irrigation Design & Research Board), Thiruvananthapuram. A Joint Director, two Deputy Directors and four Assistant Directors carry out the functions of this wing.
The important functions of this wing are as follows:
- State Project Management Unit (SPMU) of World Bank & AIIB funded Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP) - IDRB.
- DSO of state funded works.
- Monitoring and Consolidation of Daily Water Levels of Reservoirs and reporting the same to the Government and State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA.
- Scrutiny of Post and Pre Monsoon inspection reports of Dams.
- Preparation of Emergency Action Plans and Operation & Maintenance (O & M) Manual.
Dam Safety General
A Deputy Director and three Assistant Directors carry out the functions of this subdivision.The important functions of this subdivision are as follows:
- Fund allotment and monitoring of progress of works under the heads of 'Modernisation of Design Wing','Development of KERI Stage II' and 'Formation of River Basin Organisation'.
- Overall supervision of activities of KERI.
- Monitor of works related to Maintenance of dam and canals of Peechi Irrigation Project.
- General activities such as correspondence related to CMO portal, Governor's Address,Budget Speech,upkeep of library,updation of e Monit etc
