Design Wing

The design of all major projects under the Irrigation Department, Government of Kerala is carried out in the design wing of IDRB. Design of structures is done based on the hydraulic particulars, soil investigation report and other necessary data furnished as per the Design Indent for each structure published in the website. This wing also undertakes design consultancy works for other departments/ private firm upon request.  

Functions of Design Wing

⦁    Issuing design and drawings for various projects undertaken by the Irrigation Department, Government of Kerala.
⦁    Inspecting existing hydraulic structures and recommending suitable rectification works
⦁    Assessing the stability of existing dams and provide technical expertise on the rehabilitation of dams under DRIP
⦁    Conducting seminars/training/capacity building for engineers on a topic related to the design of hydraulic structures
⦁    Publishing guidelines pertaining to the design of Irrigation Structures
