Vision: 

A future in which the public safety, economic strength, environment and security of the State are not threatened by the risk from dam failure, by ensuring that dams are structurally, seismically and hydrologically safe. 

Mission: 

  • Improve the condition and safety of dams under Irrigation department through State and Central Dam Safety programs/schemes and foster a unified dam safety community . 

Goals: 

  • To direct, coordinate and develop policies and technical standards in the area of dam safety for the Department. 
  • Sustainable development, upgrading the existing basic dam safety facilities maintenance of quality and efficient dam management of Dams/ Barrages to match with the new modern innovative technique. 
  • Increase public awareness of the role of dams in society, the risks that they present and the importance of both dam safety and preparedness for dam failures to Improve Safety and Operational performance of dams. 
  • Institutional Strengthening and Capacity building in Dam Safety and Instrumentation of Dams.  
  • Promote innovative approaches to receive funding from external agencies viz. World Bank for dam rehabilitation. 
  • Initiate proposals for government programs to improve the safety of dams and the public living in the downstream.  
  • Ensure effective collection and management of asset and health data for all dams and barrages.  
  • Support and strengthen a co-ordinated effort between field offices and monitoring offices to improve the safety of dams.
